So, there’s this thing. I’ve never done it before, but I’m super excited to try it and see what all the fuss is about. And if you’re a book nerd like me, I think you might want to try it too. It’s called “Stuff Your Kindle Day.”
While I’ve never done it for myself, I’m learning all about it. Here’s what I know.
Who?
Stuff Your Kindle Day is for reading nerds like myself. If you’re basically a book hoarder and will give reading just about anything a try, this event probably is for you.
What?
What is Stuff Your Kindle Day? That’s really what you want to know at this point, right?
Here’s the scoop…
Stuff Your Kindle Day is an event where you can download a ton of free books on your e-reader.
Romance Bookworms hosts the event, so a lot of the books available for download are romances, but that’s certainly not the only genre to choose from.
When?
OK, you want in, right? Or you at least want to shop this event, so when is it?
Stuff Your Kindle Day happens four times a year. The 2023 days are: March 31, June 30, Sept. 20, and Dec. 27.
That’s right! The next Stuff Your Kindle Day is TOMORROW! Get ready, people!
Also, put those other dates on your calendar so you don’t forget them.
Each Stuff Your Kindle event is only 24 hours, so you’ve got to get it while the gettin’ is good.
Where?
Now, here’s what I think is the most interesting part. Stuff Your Kindle Day doesn’t just happen on Kindle. It’s essentially for any e-reader platform. So, if you use Kobo, Apple Books, Barnes and Noble, or Google Play, you can stuff those readers too! All you need is the app associated with the e-reader you want to download onto.
Personally, I plan to check out the offerings for my Kindle and Apple Books.
Why?
Don’t ask me silly questions. You know why.
But seriously, Amazon started this program in 2007. Yes, I realize how badly I’ve failed you by just now learning about it. The idea was to get more people reading on their devices. Other book companies followed suit.
Why I Think You Should Stuff Your Kindle
You know I’m a big supporter of libraries, local bookstores, and authors, so why would I encourage you to download books for free? It’s simple. This event allows you to try books from authors you might not have heard of or read before. If you like what you read, you’ll likely seek out more of their favorite titles. In my mind, that’s a win for everyone involved.
How?
All you have to do to Stuff Your Kindle is log on to the e-reader store of your choice on the dates listed above and see what books are free. Then, you download them like you normally would.
How Many Books Can You Get?
So, here’s a question I had almost immediately. How many books can I download? Because, you know, I want to download anything and everything that I think I’m even remotely interested in. You don’t read 200 books a year without having lots of options.
I have Kindle Unlimited, which usually only allows you to download 20 free books at a time. I wondered if that would be the same during the Stuff Your Kindle event. I mean, I was still going because 20 books = 20 books, but… I’m book greedy! So far, the answer I can find is no, the limits don’t apply. You can download as many free books as you want.
Preparing for Stuff Your Kindle Day
Since I’m spilling the tea (Do people still say that?), I’ll let you in on another secret. OK, it’s probably not a secret. Everyone but me probably already knew this, just like they all knew about this event before I did…
You can shop in advance! No, you can’t download books in advance. That’s only for 24 hours. But you can go on the Romance Bookworms and look at the lists of books that will be free. They’re separated by genre and e-reader type. Here are the lists for Kindle and Apple Books.
You bet your rear I’m making a list of what I want to download tomorrow.
Happy Reading!
I think that’s all you need to know about Stuff Your Kindle Day. Either way, it’s basically all I know at this point. I hope we’re not all being punked. I, for one, plan to log on tomorrow and find out! I’m always ready for a new book or 50.
I hope you find a book to read and love.
As always, happy reading!
