Didn’t I just write about what I was into for April? Why is it that the summer months seem to move so much more quickly? I assume it’s because I love everything about summer, and time really does seem to move more quickly when you’re happy and having fun.
What I’m into lately is basically everything summer related. You may remember that I got the idea from Modern Mrs Darcy’s book and lifestyle blog. Anne also posts regular lists of what she’s “into,” which are really fun to read.
Here are some things I’m currently into.
My favorite wine
I may always be into my favorite wine, which is Clean Slate, a German Riesling. However, summer is a great time to just relax on the patio with a glass of wine and a book. It’s honestly one of my favorite things to do. My husband bought me all of this wine for Mother’s Day. I’m pretty sure it’s because he knows his kids are the reason I drink. (Note: That was a joke. No need to write scathing emails.)
Pool time!
I’m a water baby. I love the water. One of my favorite things about summer is hanging out with my friend, Mandy, at her pool. I love Mandy, but we both have jobs, kids, etc., so we don’t get to see each other a ton during the academic year, although we live right down the street from each other and text nearly ever day. Since we’re both in academia, we have summers off, so we get to spend lots of time hanging at her pool, listening to music and solving all of the world’s problems.
Sharpies
I may have gone a little Sharpie crazy this month. I just couldn’t help myself. Do you see the case? I’ve been using them on my “to do” list and when writing in my journal, which I’m also trying to do a bit more this summer.
Buc-ee’s
My friend, Minnie, has been posting about Buc-ee’s for years, but I’d never been there until this month. We’ve been traveling to Texas a lot with my daughter’s basketball team and just had to make a stop. What a cool store! It’s HUGE. They have so many fabulous snacks, which always are necessary for a road trip.
Pasta salad
Seriously, what is it about summer that makes me crave pasta salads? I think I may love them all. Here are a couple of my favorites:
I also love just traditional pasta salad, and I have about a bazillion other pasta salad recipes to try on my Pinterest page, if you want to check them out.
Outlet shopping
We traveled to San Marcos, Texas, with my daughter’s basketball team. Let me tell you, that was a lot of driving. But, I did get to fit in a little bit of outlet shopping, which was fun. I wish I’d had more time to shop, but basketball never stops.
Morning walks
I’ve been taking morning walks with my friend, Kelly. No, I don’t like getting up to walk at 7 a.m. and I don’t necessarily love the exercise aspect, but I love Kelly. The walks are a way for the two of us to spend time together and keep each other accountable. Both of those things make the morning wake-ups worthwhile.
Home renovations
We still have home renovations ongoing, and while I’m not loving the process, I’m loving the results. We just have one last thing to do, which is backsplash in the kitchen. Assuming I ever choose tile, we’ll be done with a process that has taken months and the house will look fabulous! Of course, home renovations and redecorating mean I’m still really into Pinterest and using it daily.
The Keepers
My friend, Katie, encouraged another Facebook friend to watch The Keepers. I just happened to see the message, which resulted in a Netflix binge full of “Are you freakin’ kidding me?” The “docuseries,” as Netflix calls it, is a whodunit about the murder of Sister Catherine Cesnik. But, even more so, it’s about sexual abuse and cover-up in the Catholic church that likely led to a priest having her killed. You will be enraged by this story.
Those are just some of the things I’m into lately. I hope you had a fabulous month! What are you into right now?
