My Favorite Book of March

April 3, 2023 by Kenna Griffin

I’m ahead, then as quickly as a blink, I’m behind. That’s how my 2023 reading challenge is going so far.

March wasn’t a great reading month. I only read 10 books. Of those, I gave a single book a perfect grade.

My Favorite Book of March 2023

Of the 10 books I read in March, I gave one fiction book a perfect grade. Read my review below.

Someone Else’s Shoes

How can you not love a book about a pair of shoes? Ok, it wasn’t all about the shoes, but they were a central factor in Jojo Moyes’ new book, Someone Else’s Shoes. They also were a symbol of the whole “walk in another person’s shoes before you judge them” thing.

Sam Kemp accidentally grabbed the wrong bag at the gym and ended up with a gorgeous red pair of Louboutin heels. But Sam needs more than a great pair of shoes. Her husband is depressed, out of work, and only moves from the bed to the sofa. Her boss hates her and is doing everything he can to eliminate her. Even feeling powerful in a great pair of heels isn’t enough to right Sam’s world right now.

But Nisha Cantor needs those heels. It’s her bag Sam accidentally picked up. And since her super-wealthy husband immediately locked her out of their penthouse suite and had security throw her out of the posh hotel they were staying in, what’s in that bag is all she has. Furthermore, her jerk husband (who already replaced her with his secretary) seems fixated on the shoes. He won’t even discuss a divorce settlement until she returns the shoes.

What is it with these heels?

An unlikely friendship blooms between four women over a pair of shoes none of them cares about and getting revenge on the man who can’t seem to think of anything else.

I love Jojo Moyes. Her books are always delightfully creative, if sometimes heartbreaking too. Someone Else’s Shoes was a fun read. It was playful and witty.

Happy Reading!

There it is! My favorite book of March. I wish I had more to offer up, but I just didn’t love anything else I read. Thankfully, April is a whole new reading month.

What have you enjoyed reading lately? Drop your recommendations in the comments. I always want them!

As always, happy reading!
