I didn’t think I read much in March, so I was surprised to see that I read eight books this month. Of those, I gave three fiction and one non-fiction books perfect scores.
Get Your Sh*t Together
My favorite non-fiction book of March was Get Your Sh*t Together by Sarah Knight. Knight calls herself the “anti-guru,” with her book helping you to stop self-sabotaging and get what you want.
I loved the fun, insightful self-help book. Knight’s advice really is so practical that I consider this one a must read. I was able to take and utilize advice from the book immediately.
My three favorite fiction books were Her Every Fear by Peter Swanson, Burying Water by K.A. Tucker and The Girl Before by J.P. Delaney.
Her Every Fear
Kate Priddy is trying to start her life anew after being kidnapped by her ex-boyfriend who locked her in a closet and killed himself. The London native decides to push herself through her anxiety by switching apartments with her cousin from Boston. Unfortunately, Corbin’s neighbor is murdered right after Kate arrives and she finds herself entwined in the mystery of the murder, wondering if history is repeating itself.
Burying Water
“Water” awaken as “Jane Doe.” She was beaten and left for dead in an Oregon field and has no idea who she is or what happened to her when she wakes up in the hospital. As she settles into a new life in a rural town with the help of her doctor, she renames herself “Water” and begins to try to remember her old life. Interestingly, the person with all of the answers is a lot closer than Water thinks.
The Girl Before
I’m not even sure how to begin describing this book. It’s a sort of modern-day horror story about the house at One Folgate Street, the eccentric architect who built the home and the women who must give up all of their possessions and agree to constant monitoring by the house in order to live there. It is as strange as it sounds, but it’s absolutely worth reading.
