Book Review: Here I Go Again #100Books

November 21, 2013 by Kenna Griffin

Jen Lancaster has done it again!

I thought I couldn’t love one of her characters as much as her self depiction—all pink Polo and pearl necklace wearing sorority bitch (Bitter is the New Black; Bright Lights, Big Ass and Such Pretty Fat). I was wrong.

Jen LancasterLissy Ryder is a fiction version of her author that readers can love to hate. Lissy was apparently all that back in high school. Unfortunately being a convertible driving queen of the populars doesn’t make one bit of difference 20 years later, despite Lissy’s attempts to pretend she’s still everyone’s idol.

When Lissy is fired from her job, dumped by her husband and kicked out of her condo, the 37-year-old has been is forced to move home with her parents and try to figure out how the idol she used to be resulted in the failure she became.

Here I Go Again is the first of Jen Lancaster’s fiction novels I read. I suggested it for our book club as a break from all of the serious, heavy reading we’d been doing. It was exactly the Bubble Yum pop in the face we needed. I rolled my eyes, laughed and thought “You can’t be serious. Did that really just happen?” I bet you’ll think the same.

I need some brain candy! This will be perfect. It is even available without any holds at my library!

TammyL Brain candy is a good way to describe it. Every now and then, you just need to read something that makes you laugh, but doesn’t make you think. I hope you enjoy it! Kenna
