The following are media-related handouts that I have gathered or compiled for courses and advising. Please feel free to use any of the handouts that will help you in your teaching and learning. Of course, you should cite the original author when using these works.
If you would like to submit handouts to be place on this site as a resource for others, please email them to kennagriffin at (the sign) gmail (dot) com. I will give you full credit for your materials.
This handout provides a basic overview of popular Mass Media Theories. I use it in my basic news reporting class to introduce students to the concepts.
News Gathering Guide
Former editor-in-chief Nathan Altadonna compiled this guide of his wisdom, class handouts and professional resources from print journalists to help new staffers learn to write well quickly. It has been a wonderful resource for Oklahoma City University’s Student Publications staff. I encourage you to use, adapt it and share it. News Gathering and Reporting Guide
