I got a little off track with my What I’m Into Lately posts during the holidays and the start of a new academic semester.
You may remember that I got the idea for these posts from Modern Mrs Darcy’s book and lifestyle blog. Anne also posts regular lists of what she’s “into,” which are really fun to read.
While busyness got the best of me, I’ve still been into stuff. Below are some things I’m currently into.
My Pal
My dog, Valentine, is my life.
We actually have three dogs, and I adore them all, but Val is special in many ways. We adopted him after I lost my doggie best friend, Boomer, to kidney failure. I wasn’t sure I was ready for another dog, but I saw Val’s picture and just had to have him.
I love my Pal, who I affectionately call “Big Handsome Stupid” because he’s huge, clearly handsome and not too bright. He runs into walls, knocks his big Pala-nose into everything and just generally isn’t smart.
I had a dream in January that Val was attacked and killed by another dog. I have been even more obsessed with him than usual since then. But, seriously, how could you not love this face?
New blue Chucks
I have been looking for royal blue Converse for entirely too long. Royal blue is my kids’ school color, which means I wear it to a lot of football and basketball games. It’s also my university’s color, so you can see that it lends itself to a lot of wear. I finally used the money Granny gave me for Christmas to hunt down and buy a pair. I love them!
The press
Ok, I’m always into the press, but now I’m really into a new local restaurant called The Press. Seriously, the home made tater tots are to die for. Plus any restaurant that says they serve “comfort food” is delicious in my book.
My Doop
My daughter is a high school basketball player. I love watching her play the sport she’s so passionate about. I was thrilled when she was named to the all-tournament team in her school’s recent weekend tournament. It’s wonderful to watch her hard work paying off.
Power colors
I showed up to class recently only to find that a student and I were both wearing my power colors—black, white and red. How can you ignore a photo opportunity like that?
Friendly visits
One of the cool things about being a college media adviser is that you get to work with and meet all kinds of amazing people.
Unfortunately, I don’t get to see some of these people outside of professional conferences because it’s not often that people are just happening through Oklahoma.
Imagine my surprise when my friend, Piper, who works for student media advertising company Flytedesk, contacted me to say she was coming to Oklahoma City and wanted to visit.
It was so fun to have her as our guest in the Newsroom and for her to get to meet the staff.
The only other thing I’ve really been into lately is blankets. Are we through with winter yet?
Catching up and trying not to freeze to death in this cold Oklahoma wind are what I’m into lately. I hope you had a fabulous month!
