June was a month of celebrating fabulous things, and I’m SO into that!
Shannon ties the knot
We spent a weekend early this month near St. Louis where one of my best adviser friends got married. Erin, Shannon and I all met through college media conferences and just hit it off. Through the years we’ve become best friends and been through a ton together. Shannon got married this month, and Erin and I couldn’t miss it. We had a great time celebrating and all of our husbands finally got to meet each other.
Doop turns 16
My daughter (our oldest) turned 16 this month. My husband and I had her totally fooled that she would be driving my old Honda Accord. Little did she know that we had a big birthday surprise planned for her. She got a new (to her) car and a weekend at the lake house with some of her closest girlfriends. I got a chauffeur. Seriously, though, if you want someone to drive you around, buy them a car when they only have a permit. She got up from a nap the other day just to run me to get laundry detergent. It’ll all end in a week when she gets her licenses, but my taxi days are numbered.
The big 4-0
I turned 40 this month. I’m still coming to terms with it. Forty is the age I’ve always considered old. My husband said this would no longer be the case on my 40th birthday. I haven’t decided if he’s right. For now I’m choosing to focus on the unacceptable alternative of not having a 40th birthday. I don’t feel older because I already felt pretty old before. I’m an old soul. So, really, nothing has changed.
Reading
I can’t wait to write my monthly favorite books post because I’ve read a lot and loved a lot of what I’ve read this month. If you want a sneak peek of the grades I’ve given books this month, check out my 2017 reading list.
Home renovations
I’m starting to question whether the home renovations will ever end. The kitchen backsplash, which we thought was the last item, is completed, but now some drywall needs to be repaired. And, of course, there’s a ton of redecorating to do. The house will be gorgeous when it’s all done, but I have to live through this process first!
Those are just some of the things I’m into lately. I hope you had a fabulous month! What are you into right now?
