Finals soon will be complete and it will be time for us all to take a break.
It’s the season of friends, family, food, and festivities, which means we’ll have a slightly altered #EditorTherapy schedule until the second week of January.
The following is the #EditorTherapy schedule for December, complete with information about this month’s guest. I scheduled only one guest this month because it’s a busy time of the year for everyone. We’ll pick back up in January with a full slate of guests each month.
Dec. 6 – Covering Sports
Sports is big news, but how do you know if your staff is covering it well? Also, what if you don’t have staff specifically interested in or assigned to covering sports? How can you still make sure this coverage happens?
We’re chatting about all things sports coverage with Steven Chappell, adviser of the Northwest Missourian and The Tower yearbook at Northwest Missouri State University.
Dec. 13 – Performance Reviews
We know that student journalists deserve and desire feedback, but those regular reviews can be a little bit awkward. We’ll chat about how to review your staffers in a way that helps them improve and betters your publications.
Dec. 20 – Internship Prep
The spring semester will bring with it new opportunities for internships. We’ll chat about how to get ready to apply for internships and how to prepare yourself to get the most out of your internship if you already have one planned.
Dec. 27 – Skip a chat for the holidays. Merry Christmas!
Jan. 3 – Skip a chat for the holidays. Happy New Year!
There it is, your December #EditorTherapy schedule!
As always, your participation in Editor Therapy is critical. The chat cannot work without you, but I will continue hosting it as long as you show up.
Participating in Editor Therapy chat is as easy as logging onto Twitter at 9 p.m. CST Wednesdays and using the #EditorTherapy hashtag to join the conversation.
You also should join the #EditorTherapy Facebook group to discuss issues and concerns outside of the chat.
For more leadership information and chat recaps, like the #EditorTherapy Facebook page.
I hope to see you during the next #EditorTherapy!
