Content management programs are a necessity for today’s college media because they allow student staffs to update simply from multiple locations.
Most student media outlets initially outsourced their content management. But, as these systems become more mainstream, student media are attempting to “go out on their own.” This prompts regular discussion among advisers regarding who uses which content management programs.
The student media I advise at Oklahoma City University is switching to an in-house Website operated through WordPress. I don’t have positive or negative feedback regarding the change. It is entirely too early in the process for me to get a “good read” on how well it will work. You can view the new site, which still is under construction, at mediaocu.com.
Below are links to other college media sites I’ve easily identified as using WordPress. Can you help share others? If you advise these sites, would you be willing to speak one-on-one to those who are considering using this platform?
