While you’re testing how amazing your voice sounds in the car or chatting on your cell phone, I’m learning.
Podcasts are a great way to learn from expert sources while doing other routine tasks like driving, cleaning or exercising.
For those who produce them, podcasts are a good way to reach an audience who may prefer to listen to information instead of reading it.
Listening to podcasts makes me feel twice as productive while I perform monotonous but necessary tasks. Below are five of my favorite podcasts.
The jingle for Michael Hyatt’s podcast says “This is your life. Are you who you want to be?” The podcasts’ contents focus on helping listeners become better versions of themselves.
The podcast is the companion to Hyatt’s blog, Intentional Leadership, which I also love.
The thing I like most about Hyatt’s podcast is the way he makes simple key points using a conversational tone. It’s easy to see how I can immediately apply Hyatt’s tips to my work and life.
I am a word nerd, which means Mignon Fogarty (aka: “Grammar Girl”) is a woman after my heart.
Fogarty’s podcast is billed as the “friendly guide to the world of grammar, punctuation, usage and fun developments in the English language.”
The podcasts include topics like affect vs. effect and how to use quotations.
What’s not to love?
Laura Stack’s podcast gives you immediately applicable productivity tips in minutes. I get great ideas every time I listen to Stack’s podcasts, which include topics like managing email and planning your day.
John Maxwell’s podcast focuses on a single word, identified by his audience. Maxwell defines the term as it is applicable to successful leadership. The podcasts are short and insightful.
You know what’s better than one great idea? Hundreds of great ideas. That’s exactly what Ted Talks consist of—hundreds of storytellers offering up their best ideas.
I don’t know if I could even begin to identify my favorite Ted Talks. However, I know the podcasts were where I first was introduced to Brene Brown. I went on to read all of her books and admire her work.
If vulnerability isn’t your thing, the great thing about Ted Talks is that there’s something for everyone.
I certainly haven’t listed all of the podcasts I listen to and enjoy, but these are five of my favorites. I hope you find something here you enjoy.
Let’s Talk Nerdy!
